Friday, my coworker S lost her job. She was a happy bitch, practically dancing, while I was pouty. It wasn’t a surprise, she had been told that her position might be eliminated, but still. I’m running out of people to talk to at the office! Not surprisingly, I didn’t get much done yesterday. It was all yap, yap, yap all day. People gossiping, people talking, whatev. Allegedly, this is the last of the planned cuts. I don’t know. I guess it’s all out of my control and I’m grateful to have a job. I’m also grateful that S. was so pleased. I hope she can make a new start.
I’m tired of my pale skin so I bought self-tanner Friday night. I got a spray so it’s easier to get my back. The first coat turned out pretty light, which is good, I suppose, so I put more on last night. So far, no Oompa Loompa-ness, which is always a plus.
This weekend has pretty much been a blur, it’s ridiculous how quickly the time goes even when I’m not doing a damn thing!
So. My beloved friend Ricardo has tagged me with this meme about 6 quirks that I have. Six? Only six? I may have to pare this down a bit …
1. I will not touch unfinished ceramic items. Will. Not. Cannot stand the feel. It makes me shudder and want to scream. Yuck.
2. I am terrified of grasshoppers. I’ve talked about this before but it is seriously true. They scare me beyond measure.
3. While watching hockey, I clap my hands above my head when the Red Wings score. I don’t do this any other time and have no idea why I do it during hockey games.
4. The first time a potential new gentleman friend calls me I will not answer the phone — even if the phone is literally right next to me. I have to hear the guy’s voice on the message before I’ll talk to him. I don’t recall never returning a call because I didn’t like what I heard … but the potential is always there!
5. I can’t stand to listen to programs with listeners who call in, whether it’s on the radio or QVC or something. It makes me so uncomfortable. I’m on edge, waiting for people to embarrass themselves. I think I learned this from my mom.
6. Speaking of my mom, if there is a beauty pageant on and we are together, we will watch it. Miss Universe is the favorite, thanks to the parade of nations, but Miss America also is good because of the “talent” segment. I am always interested in who the judges are. Why? Couldn’t tell you.
Now I’m going to tag Miss Sodapop, Miss Lucy, Miss Laci, Ari, Tori and Jen.
Show us your quirks, ladies!
I started a post last night and had it halfway written, but ended up conking out early thanks to a wicked headache that had been bothering me all day. I got to MI in just over 4 hours Saturday …. wheee, driving fast! … and met a friend for din-din. Yesterday we had a delish father’s day dinner … king crab legs, steak, German potato salad and baked beans. OMG. I was an icky mess after eating my three crab legs but it was well worth it. YUMMEH. The crab was so sweet I used hardly any butter.
Today was just lots of running around … went to a new purse shop where I got a super duper adorable bag … then to lunch at Daly’s Drive In … shopping at Sephora … dr’s appointment with my mom … then back home. I’m pooped.
Tomorrow it’s back home … hopefully I’ll have nice weather. Sure makes the drive more enjoyable.
I’m off to Michigan this morning … as soon as I shower, pack, clean the kitchen and get the cats ready for my absence. Yeah, I should probably get moving instead of sitting on the couch. Oh well.
Yesterday I was totally shocked to see that Tim Russert died. Wow. For one, he was relatively young. For another, he was THE reason I watched Meet the Press. He was so snarky and smart and I loved that. I’ve been avoiding any and all TV coverage; it’s too upsetting to see his colleagues so upset.
Okaaaaaay … time to get in the shower … and then get psyched about my 285 mile drive …..
After getting caught in yet ANOTHER monsoon while leaving work, I thought my hair didn’t look all that bad. So of course I had to take a picture.
This shot shows off my highlights too …

How long have I been saying that I can’t wait for my ta-tas to shrink a bit? They’re big. They get in the way. They’re just a pain, ya know? Well, tonight I walked into the gym and my trainer said, “Oh my God, how much weight have you lost?” I said, “I dunno,” because I don’t, except for those few pounds I lost last week, but I have noticed that a few things are looser.
Like my bra.
On one hand, my sports bra doesn’t feel like it’s going to crush my ribcage anymore. But on the other hand … my girls! They’re already starting to go!
Le sigh.
I know I haven’t been blogging much lately … I’ve just been feeling very boring and dull as of late and there really hasn’t been anything too interesting to talk about.
I’m off to Michigan on Saturday for Father’s Day so hopefully I’ll have more excitement then …
Then again I may have some excitement coming up … don’t want to jinx anything …
I may have switched hemispheres without knowing it because it appears to be monsoon season here. WTF? Three BRUTAL storms since 4 p.m. It was raining so hard that traffic was briefly stopped on the expressway. Lightning was cracking overhead and the thunder scared the bejesus out of me a few times. At the mo, however, everything is calm.
Speaking of calm, I am quite calm. I had a WONDERFUL massage tonight. OMG. My shoulders and lower back were tense and she worked the kinks out of me. I am going to sleep well tonight … which would be awesome, considering I was awake until 2 a.m. last night.
I better get to bed now, before I jinx myself.
Well, kinda. Stole this from Miss Sodapop’s site.
