Words cannot explain how much I love the cheesy delightfulness of wonderful tunes like Mandy, Trying to Get the Feeling Again and Could It Be Magic. I can listen to those songs over and over and over again.
Imagine my delight today, while driving home, when I stumbled upon an ALL-BARRY HOUR OF MUSIC.
OMG.
I bombarded Miss Lucy and Miss Sodapop with text messages, quoting song lyrics and whatnot. The occasion? Barry’s birthday. On the radio they said he was 65, on Entertainment Tonight they said 62. Regardless, he has had enough surgery to become ageless!
I used to insist on listening to Mandy every single night before I went to bed. That was back in the days of tapes — yes, tapes — and eventually the cassette tape would wear down because I only played the one side and my mom would use scotch tape to attach the ends back together lol. God I love this song. God I love Barry!
Finally, please do enjoy the Family Guy boys discussing Barry –
I just got back from the salon, where my beloved Katie did my face up right. I get dehydrated from my allergy meds, despite drinking a good quantity of water daily, and Katie worked her magic. And I was the first client she used her new steamer on! We were excited about that at least LOL. The best part for me are the scalp and facial massages. OMFG. Love it love it love it.
I decided to take Monday off of work. I’m going to go sign my lease and get my keys to the new place, then my friend Debby is going to meet me at the new place to help me carry some stuff in.
I know I can’t be the only person who gets this mental image when I hear about hurricane Lorenzo:
So sue me. I think he’s hot. In a skanky, I wouldn’t touch that with a 10′ pole kinda way.
No more teasing. Frankie and Jen ventured some good guesses but ultimately, no one was able to figure out who the reality TV “star” is that my cousin is dating.
Tonight my friend Shelly and I went to a small independent bookstore for a book signing by the fucking fabulous Jill Conner Brown, the original Sweet Potato Queen. It was awesome. She was hilarious. Jill’s husband was taking photos and after I mocked him, he took an additional two photos of me (ah, photo hog thy name is Monique). They should be posted on the SPQ web site within the next few days and you betcha I’ll put ‘em up here too.
My first crush was Fonzie … but once I saw “CHiPs,” my loyalties quickly switched to Francis “Ponch” Poncharello. Mind you, I was about 5 years old at the time. I still have a great love for “CHiPs.” It isn’t an exaggeration to say that I have seen probably every episode. I have even had the theme as my cell ringtone and PC start-up sound at various times. I remember being very young, watching “CHiPs” every day with my best friend Andra and eating grilled cheese for lunch. Good times!
“Armed and Famous” debuts tonight … and the best part? It was filmed about 20 minutes from where I live. Hilljack central.
(Yeah, it’s the disco version. I couldn’t find a clip for the original. I’m gonna go boogie now.)
His fabulosity shines through the grainy video clip.
One of my favorite episodes, with Laura Branigan. It features the “fake” Jon, the guy they brought on when Larry Wilcox wanted more money, though, and young officer Bobby what’s his name. Boo.
Some other fun facts: The guy who played Arthur “Grossie” Grossman appeared in a really moving HBO special about the death of his wife from cancer. My dad and I watched it, not realizing what it was about. We both cried. Robert “Sgt. Getrear” Pine has appeared in several shows this season including “Vanished” and “Criminal Minds.”
I still haven’t fully recovered from the scene in the first “Transporter” movie where Jason Statham rolls around in motor oil.
I watched “Crank” tonight. One scene, the opening part of “Turn Me Loose” by Loverboy is playing. Statham’s character chops off a guy’s hand with a big knife then says, “How fucking awesome was that?”
