This was Friday’s horoscope:

Who e-mailed me Friday evening? The motherfucker. This is the 2nd time he’s pulled this shit since we broke up last July. I freaked the fuck out when I got a text from match.com saying he had emailed me. I jumped off the couch and was nearly to Miss Sodapop’s computer when I stopped, turned away and said, “No, I am NOT going to read this now.”

Of course I eventually did and it was just bullshit, like about the Red Wings, how are you doing? Blah blah blah. He ended the email with “Drop me a line. Jason.” I didn’t reply until the next day and he responded immediately; he was glad to hear I was doing well, blah blah blah. We exchanged a few more short e-mails but that was it. He didn’t ask me out, he didn’t say why he e-mailed, we just had a surface-level conversation.

Saturday evening I was in a bit of a tizzy before I went to sleep, thinking about this situation. Then I realized, fuck this shit, he’s a fucking liar and he dumped me cold, and it was the most painful break-up I’ve had outside of my divorce. I am NOT going to let someone like that back into my life. As Miss Sodapop pointed out, I have choices and I do not have to repeat the patterns of the past.

Hopefully I won’t hear from Jason again and I get back to the here and now, not the painful past.
