OMFG I’m So Frickin’ Cold

I have been fucking freezing ever since my plane landed in Michigan yesterday. It was 65 when I left home and a good 20 degrees colder when I left the airport here. I have been bundled up in a sweatshirt, with a blanket on my lap and space heater pointed at me for the better part of my waking hours. Right now I’m in bed, with a sheet, two blankets and a quilt on top of me; I’m wearing a t-shirt, sweatshirt, pj pants and socks. Methinks I need to get back on the thyroid medication I foolishly stopped taking. Or got to a Arizona bed and breakfast, which actually sounds like a lovely idea.

Tomorrow I’m meeting three of my cousins for lunch at a Mediterranean restaurant. Yum. Excellent chicken shawarmas and whatever that yummy white garlicy sauce is. I could eat that with a spoon … and considering I’ll just be around family this weekend, I very well might! Speaking of, got a txt from Matt today but I didn’t call him. He was going to his family’s for Thanksgiving then to his buddy’s house for Chinese food. I guess it’s their tradition. I’ve had Chinese on Xmas Eve but never on Thanksgiving … but he said they’ve been doing it for about 12 years. I started thinking about a Christmas present for him. I had to do this about 2 years ago, buying a gift for a gentleman friend I didn’t know all that well. I’m thinking the new PostSecret book would be a good gift and um maybe I could read it beforehand?

Speaking of PostSecret — one smooth segueway after another, right? — I have this song stuck in my head. One of the guys from Found magazine sang it at the show last week. It’s called “The Booty Don’t Stop.” I’m too lazy to check but you can probably find it on YouTube. The band is The Poem Adept. It’s quite catchy and I keep hearing, “Daaaaaaamn the booty don’t stop” in my head. Great. That should inspire some awesome dreams …

Happy Thanksgiving!

My Space Or Yours?.net

I made my deliciousness of potato casserole this morning along with cranberry sauce (I added in some orange marmalade, we’ll see how that turns out). Other than that, I’ve been doing some laundry and basically parking my ass on the couch. We had some minor excitement when my dad dropped his French press coffeemaker and it shattered on the kitchen floor. Now, the Lions game is on and my mother just announced the turkey breast is in the oven (blech). I’m waiting for the ham. I know my girl Miss Lucy is with me there!

I’m going to end with a blog I originally posted on MySpace. Happy Thanksgiving y’all!

What am I grateful for? My friends. My family. Being someone’s sunshine. Mr. Man and Reggie. My new apartment. Having too many possessions rather than not enough. Peppermint mochas from Starbucks. My health. Trashy romance books. The ability to go to graduate school. Sunflowers. My paycheck. The lessons I learned this year (and the lessons I hope to never have to learn again). The Scandalous Bitches. Jeff the Mennonite Douchebag. Having soft water so my haircolor lasts longer now! Snowmen. Napkins from IKEA. Fake flowers that I thought were real. Coke Zero. Tequila. You.

Thanksgiving Brrrness

Temperature in Indianapolis: 65.

Temperature in Detroit: 43.

Guess where I am? Le sigh. It’s also been raining on and off here, and we’re supposed to get about an inch of snow by noon tomorrow. On the bright side, I made a kick-ass lemon meringue pie. My mom won’t let me have any until tomorrow. Biatch.

Hmmm what else? Not much. I’m boring. My mom wants to get a paper tomorrow so we can look at the ads for all the sales we won’t be shopping lol. Although, if my dad had his way we’d been on the lookout for body shop supplies

Ok, So Maybe It’s Not Insomnia

Maybe I’ve been waking up because every night, a different fucking car alarm goes off. Nothing like waking up to honking or beeping or even just some ass who gets in at 3 am but can’t be bothered to manually lock the fucking car doors so the entire block doesn’t know he’s home.

Sigh.

Talked to Matt for about 30 minutes last night. Things are ok with us. He was stuffy and said he felt like he was getting sick so perhaps that explains some of his sensitivity.

Ok, I’m getting sleepy. Back to bed …

Supporting the Troops with Cards to Write Home

Once in a while you come across a really great idea and this is one of them, especially as the holidays approach. Soldiers Angels provides aide and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and the Coast Guard and their amazing families. The Gallery Collection the leading mail-order publisher of premium personalized greeting cards is supporting Soldiers Angels by donating greeting cards to be sent to soliders and sailors to wish them a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and most importantly, to tell them “thank you.” In addition, The Gallery Collection donated a card and blank envelope to be sent with the Christmas card so that each soldier can write home. I’m getting teary-eyed just thinking about how hard it must be for families to be separated at the holidays. A gesture like this can really make a difference. If you are in need of the services of a Corporate Holiday Cards Company, consider the Gallery Collection.

Nanoblowme 9,013

Matt and I had our first “talk” last night but I think things are ok now. I have to admit, though, I was like, why did I want a boyfriend again? lol But that’s only because talking about things like this make me uncomfortable even though I was glad he brought up his concern (a misunderstanding) instead of stewing about it for days or weeks, and I thanked him for that. I’m leaving for Michigan in the morning so I won’t see him until next Monday at the soonest. Hopefully absence will make the heart grow fonder.

I have a conference call at 7 for one of my classes. Yay! lol Then I’m going to watch Bones and House, and pack. I’m excited about seeing my family tomorrow. The weather looks clear around here so my flight shouldn’t be affected.

My brother’s ex-gf e-mailed me today. I need to get the scoop from my brother ’cause right now, I want to beat him down for letting this one go.

Ok, time to dial in …

Creeeeeeeeepy

I first starting reading books by Stephen King when I was a young teenager. For some reason, I thought it would be a wise idea to take a book, like Cujo or Misery, with me while I was babysitting. Uh-huh. Not so much. After the kids went to bed and my homework was done, I’d pull out a book … and proceed to have the bejesus scared out of me. The worst was Pet Semetery. Holy hell, that book scared me. I was creeped out for days. Well, wait, Cujo probably scared me the most. To this day, I am unable to watch more than the first more minutes of the movie. My heart pounds, I want to avert my eyes and next thing you know, I’m changing the channel.

I haven’t yet read The Mist by Stephen King. But considering all of the reading I have to do now for school, I’m probably better off going to see the movie. The commercials I have seen are pretty creepy and the trailers online, which you can watch here — The Mist — give me the willies as well. I’m not good at watching scary movies myself … so I’ll be looking for a big strong man to hold onto while I watch it.

The movie comes out on Nov. 21st. Go see it before Thanksgiving and you’ll actually have something interesting to talk to your relatives about!

Two Day Workweeks Rawk!

I knew that I had one group assignment to do this week for school … I didn’t realize I had a group project for my other class. Le sigh. I will definitely be bringing my laptop to work on stuff while I’m at the parents. Yay.

I picked up a new key to replace the spare key that I broke a few weeks ago. Matt is stopping by later tonight for the keys and for the lowdown on fulfilling the food/water/attention needs of Mr. Man and Reggie. Hopefully Miss Monique’s attention needs will be fulfilled as well.

I’ve been feeling very dull lately. I can’t really think of anything terribly exciting to write, or even talk, about. Le sigh. I suppose I shouldn’t complain too much …

Procrastination Bullets

  • Why can I never remember how to do bullets? Good gawd. I always have to do a web search.
  • I decided to have a Xmas partay this year. It will be awesomely tacky. I hope Misses Laci and Sodapop will be able to drive up from KY.
  • I invited Matt to the party. It would be his first introduction to my friends. He viewed the eVite but hasn’t RSVP’d. LOL
  • I am so procrastinating about finishing my assignment that is due today. I also have more work to do before a 7 p.m. conference call on Tuesday.
  • We are having a floor-wide pitch-in Tuesday @ work and I can’t decide if I want to go through the trouble/expense of making my delish potato casserole when I’ll be making it AGAIN for Thanksgiving.
  • I’m ok with eating food made by people I know but the rest of the people on my floor? Eww. I don’t know them. Maybe I’ll skip it. It’s grossing me out to think about it.
  • White chocolate and peppermint Hershey’s kisses fucking rawk. OMG. I PPH them so much.
  • I challenged NYC Watchdawg to a duel of sorts … but you’ll have to wait until January to see what that shit is all about. I was mean, I used the word “proposition” in the e-mail. Nah, Miss Monique doesn’t like to give people the wrong idea … hee hee.
  • I am SO GLAD I only have a two-day week this week … even if it means going to the airport on Wednesday and dealing with the Thanksgiving masses. My flight is direct to Day-twa so if it’s delayed it’s not a disaster. I’ve been lucky every year so far. It’s always me and a throng of Japanese businessmen going to MI (auto company execs). Last year I nearly got a concussion, smacking my head on the ceiling of the plane — and I’m 5′4″ LOL.
  • Speaking of height, Matt is 6′2″. We haven’t been able to coordinate the hand-holding-while-walking thing because of the 10″ height difference. It’s kinda funny, actually.
  • Ok, I really need to finish that assignment … blech.
  • But first I’ll make popcorn. Nothing like a late “lunch.” :D
