Matt met me at my old apartment about 2:30 today; we loaded up our two cars and then brought the crap back to the new place. We couldn’t get the freight elevator to work so we had to use the regular elevator … I think it was 5 or 6 trips. Yay. We hung out at my place for a few hours, talking, watching Children of the Corn and, of course, gettin’ a little smoochy-smoochy going on. About 7:30 he decided to leave; I popped a WW dinner in the micro and was surprised when he called. In a panic he told me he was car was gone. By the time I got downstairs, he had called the police and was on the phone with the tow company. The cop showed up in just a few minutes, which was great, but by then Matt had found out the car had been towed … and it would cost $168 to get it back. Yikes.
I offered to get some cash but he declined my offer and decided to go for a walk. I know better than to interfere with a man and a walk in a time of crisis lol. He’s been gone about 20 minutes; I don’t know if he was going to walk to the towing lot or not. I’ll call him at 9 if I haven’t heard from him. At least he didn’t seem mad at me, thank God; he gave me a big hug as soon as I got outside. I have a feeling we’ll be hanging out at his place for a while LOL. I also have a feeling I’ll be making my rosemary chicken to help smooth things over.

That really, really sucks. I’m so sorry to hear about this. Was he parked in a “no parking” zone? I’m glad he didn’t seem to be mad at you.

At least he went to take a walk. That sucks! It was sweet of you to offer the cash, but why was it towed?

All of the lots by my building are permit-only; visitors are supposed to park on the side streets on either end of the block. We were just being lazy and didn’t want to get up to move his car. What was stupid is that it’s not like the lot was parked up; there were a dozen empty spaces just around his car — and it was Sunday night, not even really the weekend! Alas, now we know … and all my other friends now know not to push their luck!
