Pretty Shiny Things

As is well-documented on this blog, my admiration for drag queens is great. First and foremost, I have a great love for sparkly things. I am like a magpie in that respect. I am drawn to anything with sparkles and sequins. Drag queens also seem to have a great love for sparkly things. In addition, I love big fancy gowns, most likely because I have never worn a truly spectacular gown. Drag queens also love big fancy gowns. And of course, there’s the make-up. So, really, it’s a no-brainer that I sometimes clap in glee upon seeing a particularly fabulous drag queen, such as the one last December who was wearing a tight purple dress covered in tiny purple Christmas tree ornaments and sequins. Oh, the sparkles, the spectacle!

So when I found out about this event, I vowed that one day, with God as my witness, no less!, I will attend. Read more about the Night of a Thousand Gowns. The gala benefits PFLAG New York City.

It’s raining here. I have a headache. I want to sit on the couch all morning. But my apartment is a mess. I am torn between inertia and overcoming squalor. Sigh.

  1. That picture is… umm… horrifying. Yeah, that’s the word I’m looking for.

  2. hahaha! yes, DG seems to have a thing for sparkles. I am just not sure how I feel about being upstaged by a man who looks better in make up and a dress than I do and who can actually walk in 6inch heels.
