Holy Cow

I usually don’t watch “Meet the Press,” because I never remember that it’s on. But today, perhaps to atone for staying out until 3 a.m., having an overnight guest and then skipping the first church service I had planned to attend in like a year, I’m doing something other than sitting on my ass reading a magazine. Well, I’m still sitting on my ass but at least I’m watching thinky TV.

Anyway, the topic started with Lebanon and the Middle East and went into North Korea. Joe Biden and Newt Gingrich were the guests for that segment. Newt, for whom my hatred has dissipated into a simmering distaste/dislike over the years, actuallly made a negative comment regarding the current administration’s policy — or lack thereof — regarding, well, any other county. Tim Russert interjected and said that was a condemnation of the Bush administration. Newt stuck to the word “current” when describing which administration, but still, it was enough to make me pause, mid-sip of coffee.

Damn. Watching this makes me feel smarter already. Which means I can read Cosmo, guilt-free, this afternoon. Sweet! ; )
