The End is Near

Of my part-time job, that is. We finished with our end of the work a week ago, so they threw more at us. Now, I can’t knock the extra cash, but come on. This is week five and I am plum tuckered out. I was up Monday night past midnight and, seeing as it’s 11:45 p.m. now, looks like I will be again tonight. The team leader assured us that we’d finish up Wednesday night but I’ll believe it when my ass is on my couch Thursday night and not in my mini-cubicle.

Before I started this project, I had a dream, night after night, that I was driving home in an area I didn’t recognize, and I was so tired I drove off the road. I remember that dream every night when I’m on my way home. Fortunately, I don’t encounter any roads — twisty and in a grassy, fenced-off area — like in my dream, but I do have a few curvy on-ramps to deal with, plus construction. Oh, the construction! Three lanes down to one tonight, doubling the time of my drive home. I’m spoiled with my short commute to the day job (five miles, which can take anywhere from 8 to 40 minutes to navigate).

Hold up your lig hter and sing “Home Sweet Home” by Motley Crue with me. No? Okay, I’ll stop.

  1. “Plum tuckered out”?

Are you an 80 year old woman from Kentucky?

  2. Actually, I am. I’m also going out to the holler today … well, I don’t know what one does in a holler. I’ve only ever lived in the suburbs. Sorry to disappoint lol.

I either use really big words or colloquialisms (well, that’s a big word I guess.). My high point for the week was my use of “Uninformed political discourse makes me hot.” Haven’t topped that one yet.
