While you’re here, check out my renter, Pile of Dog Bones. It’s good readin’!
I participated in a workshop yesterday designed to help me set goals for 2006 and “unstick” myself from whatever is in my way of achieving these goals. I usually am not comfortable with a lot of emotional stuff (shock) but this was very well done.
Here are my intentions for 2006:
Physical Health
- Not using food/alcohol to fill a void or dull my emotions.
- Exercise as a way of being healthy. Incorporate more activity into my everyday life.
Emotional Health
- Continue on with my growth process in therapy, even when I feel like I’m not progressing.
- Take care of myself first. Say “no” if I really don’t feel like doing something. It’s okay to be still.
- Trust my instincts. Don’t let others’ opinions hold more weight than my own.
Professional
- Follow through on going back to school.
- Find a mentor for event planning.
- Write a first draft of a business plan and find out what is entailed in opening a retail store.
Pleasure/Leisure
- Take a least one “fun” class per quarter (adult education).
- Plan a weekend in Chicago for myself and friends. Set money aside each month.
Relationships
- List the qualities I must have in a partner.
- Decide what I want out of a relationship: Companionship, friendship, sex, marriage???
- Each month, write one friend a letter telling them what their friendship means to me.
Spiritual
- Decide how much spiritual nurturing I neeed.
- Attend church regularly (what is regularly?) but don’t feel pressured to lead committees, serve on the board, etc. like I did before.
- Complete my meditation class next month and practice what I’ve learned.
- Create a sacred space in my home that is calming and centering.

Whoa, that seems like a lot. Just reading all that makes me want to take a nap.
My New Year’s resolution: take more naps.

This was a good list for me to stumble upon at this point in time.
I like your blog (the title is definitely something I can relate to) and will drop by again.
Take care.

Wow! And I thought I had goals? You’ve totally put me to shame… and on top of it all… I don’t think I’ve been able to fulfill any of mine yet… but I think you’re already on the road with quite a few of yours… I am so jealous.
Oh, and thanks for the extra plug!

The secret to resolutions is making ones you actually have a chance of keeping! That’s about all my self-esteem can handle. ; )
